The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (HPGCL) has embarked on a mission to establish itself as a modern, growth oriented organization and to make its presence felt in the country’s dynamic power sector. We have a vision to become a modern world class power generation company, committed to powering Haryana’s growth on all fronts by maximizing generation and minimizing the cost of power from existing plants and by planning and implementing new generation projects.

A beginning was made in this regard by improving the performance of the existing units. The power stations at Panipat and Yamunanagar are giving excellent performance. The Corporation has an ambitious plan to add sufficient generating capacity in the State in order to bridge the gap between demand and supply. The two Units of 2x600 MW  Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant, Khedar, Hisar were commissioned successfully during April 2010 and October 2010, respectively and are capable of supplying 288 Lakh additional Units of electricity daily, when operating at rated capacity.  The project has achieved hitherto unsurpassed records of speedy implementation. HPGCL is also planning to set-up one 660 MW Thermal Unit based on Super Critical Technology at Yamunanagar as an expansion of the existing coal based 2x300 MW DCRTPP Yamunanagar.

The three units of 3x500 MW (1500 MW) Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar were developed as a Joint Venture among NTPC, HPGCL and Government of Delhi. The two units of 2x660 MW (1320 MW) Mahatma Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar were developed by an IPP M/s CLP Power India Pvt. Limited under Case-2 competitive bidding process and is a shining example of Public Private Partnership.

HPGCL raise the level of its operations to global standards and in its quest to produce eco-friendly, green power HPGCL obtained  ISO:9001 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001 (Environment Management Systems) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems) certification for its Panipat, Yamunanagar, Hisar Thermal Plants and its Corporate Office at Panchkula.

All out efforts are being made to create awareness and to deeply ingrain the concept of Environment protection among all the HPGCL employees. The pollution control equipment at all the Power Stations is being maintained in peak condition to minimize the emission to the extent possible. The DCRTPP Yamuna Nagar has been designed for “Zero Effluent Discharge” and thus has very little environmental impact on the adjoining and nearby villages and Yamuna Nagar/ Jagadhari city.

To minimize the impact of fly ash on the environment, dedicated efforts are being made to promote the use of dry fly ash and cement manufacturers/ brick manufacturers are being encourage to lift as much dry ash as much possible from the generating plants of HPGCL. It is our endeavor to achieve 100 % utilization of fly ash generated from our plants

HPGCL has laid emphasis on the development of “Green Belt” in the plant and the surrounding areas by planting a large number of trees. An environment cell has been created to carry out the monitoring of stack emission, ambient air quality, noise level, analysis of effluents etc. and to keep the regional / local statutory bodies informed about the status of pollution control.

Besides, striving for achieving excellence in its performance, HPGCL is fully conscious of its Corporate Social Responsibility towards community and has decided to contribute 5% of its profits of the previous year towards social responsibility activities and development of the areas surrounding its projects. The “Corporate Social Responsibility Policy” of HPGCL has been put in place. The thrust area under this policy will be education, sanitation, health and above all, providing employment and making people able to earn their livelihood so that their living standard could be improved. HPGCL has planned to play a leading and meaningful role in bringing qualitative improvement in the life of community and the surrounding environment.

HPGCL is committed to generate sufficient, uninterrupted environment friendly Power for millions of consumers of the State of Haryana with optimum efficiency under safe working conditions.
